623. ELECTION RESULTS FOR THE 16TH KNESSET, 2003

In January 2003 general elections for the Knesset were conducted as a single procedure. Their results were published by at the end of 2004 by the Supervisor of the General Elections. Prof. Abraham Diskin processed the data and prepared the publication for the Supervisor of General Elections. Further processing of the computed files was done by ISDC staff who merged the polling stations with geographic indices provided by the Central Bureau of Statistics. The dataset includes for each polling station: code of locality, name of locality (Hebrew and English), SA, polling station code, eligible voters, actual voters, valid votes and their distribution among the various parties. The same data items were summarized for localities and statistical areas in large urban localities. The datasets are available in both Excel and ASCII formats.

622. ELECTION RESULTS FOR PRIME MINISTER, 2001

Direct elections for the prime minister were conducted only 3 times - in 1996, 1999 and 2001 - before the Knesset decided to cancel them and return to a single procedure of elections for the Knesset. The results of the 2001 elections were published at the end of 2004 by Prof. Abraham Diskin who processed the data and prepared the publication for the Supervisor of general Elections. Since the published computer files included only polling station records, further processing was required in order to prepare full election results for localities and for Statistical Areas (SA). This was done by ISDC staff who merged the results of the polling stations with geographic indices provided by the Central Bureau of Statistics. The dataset includes for each polling station: code of locality, name of locality (Hebrew and English), SA, polling station code, eligible voters, actual voters, valid votes and their distribution among the two candidates: Ehud Barak and Ariel Sharon. The same summarized data items are included in the locality and SA records.

ELECTION RESULTS FOR THE 15TH KNESSET AND FOR PRIME MINISTER, 1999 (An addition to dataset 621)

The polling stations results of the 1999 elections have been received from the Supervisor of General Elections along with the other datasets. This file has been added to ISDC #621: Election Results for the 15th Knesset and for Prime Minister 1999, for localities and statistical areas, received few years ago from the Central Bureau of Statistics.
